Closing Ceremony of the First International Agriculture and Livestock Exhibition of Afghanistan Held, with 74 Memoranda of Understanding worth More than USD 200 Million Signed
The First International Agriculture and Livestock Exhibition of Afghanistan concluded today in Kabul after six days of activities. Government officials, ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions, representatives of the private sector, investors, producers, farmers, traders, domestic and international guests, and members of the media attended the exhibition.
The closing ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Following this, Haji Khan Mohammad Forotan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Afghanistan Chamber of Agricultural and Livestock Production, welcomed and expressed his appreciation to the government officials, ambassadors, diplomatic missions, private sector representatives, investors, producers, farmers, domestic and international guests, and the media for their presence and support. He also emphasized the importance of holding the exhibition.
He stated that the exhibition should not be viewed merely as an exhibition event, but rather as the beginning of a new path toward highlighting Afghanistan’s genuine potential in the fields of agriculture, livestock, related industries, trade, and investment. He also announced that more than 100 booths were present at the exhibition and stated that, during the event, 74 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth more than USD 200 million were signed between companies and economic stakeholders.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Afghanistan Chamber of Agricultural and Livestock Production described these MoUs as an important step toward expanding trade cooperation, promoting investment, and creating new opportunities for the growth of Afghanistan’s agriculture and livestock sectors. He called on all participants and partner institutions to continue supporting the agricultural sector and development programs in this field.
During the ceremony, Mawlawi Sadr Azam Osmani, Technical Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan, spoke about the importance of agricultural development and marketing of the country’s agricultural products. He called on domestic and foreign investors to invest in mechanized agriculture in Afghanistan. He emphasized that benefiting from the experiences of regional and neighboring countries in agricultural mechanization would contribute to the standardization and development of Afghanistan’s agricultural system.
At the closing ceremony, Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Mawlawi Qudratullah Jamal, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration of the Ministry of Information and Culture, also delivered speeches.
Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce emphasized the role of specialized exhibitions in standardizing agricultural products, promoting domestic products, and creating opportunities for Afghan producers to access domestic and international markets. They also highlighted the importance of producing high quality and standardized products for the development of trade and exports.
Representatives of the Afghanistan-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce also described the exhibition as an important opportunity for expanding trade relations and agricultural cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran.
At the First International Agriculture and Livestock Exhibition of Afghanistan, more than 100 booths representing companies and economic stakeholders from Afghanistan and various countries, including Iran, India, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, showcased their products and productions. Over the course of six days, the exhibition welcomed thousands of visitors and provided a platform for meetings, discussions, and networking among domestic and international producers, investors, traders, and economic stakeholders.
The organization of this exhibition, the signing of dozens of cooperation agreements, and the creation of opportunities for investment, marketing, and export of Afghan agricultural products represent an important step toward showcasing Afghanistan’s agricultural potential and strengthening trade and economic cooperation with countries across the region and the world.
